1.6 16v egr replaced eml still on?

Hi girl friends egr failed on sunday, which it kept dying wouldnt idle.

Put the scanner on it and the was the egr valve so have replaced the egr (which was jammed open).

The car is now running sweet but the eml is on constantly even when all the codes are cleared still bringing up fault with egr valve, p1404 code.

After any thoughts or ideas may be a faulty coolant sensor?

cheers Dan

Ps egr was annoying to get at lol under the inlet manifold

I didnt, we just plugged it in same as normal, the blanking gasket goes UNDER the actual egr, so can stil plug egr in, have no ecu codes and car recalibrated itself on start up, this was about 5 months ago and no problems

you disconnect battery to reset the ECU. best doing it overnight since the ecu on these machines seem to have a long backup life.

the ecu might still need to be reset to reset all the parametres and things.
