hi all,
i have a corsa b 1.2 16v v-reg 2000 auto, i changed the water pump on it about 9 months ago and everything was fine up until a couple of months ago. one evening my EML came up permanently and since then my car is drinking fuel like crazy. i have taken it to 3 garages to which between them it was connected to 6 diagnostic machines but none of them could connect to the car. i called in a vauxhall specialist who placed his tech 2 on it but still the car would not connect, i have recently purchased an op-com set up but once again the corsa does not want to know. i have tested the op-com on my brothers astra and it works fine. the paper clip test wont work as i am missing pin 6. the diagnostic plug has 6 pins in use which are numbers 3, 4, 5, 7, 12 and 16. the car seems to run fine starts every time no smell of fuel but this fuel issue and light is driving me to insanity.
can anyone help please?

It depends upon the model, as to which pins in the diagnostic socket are used.
As it would seem that various readers can't connect to your car, I feel that it is time to get out the multimeter and work from the wiring diagram to find which pin(s) are the culprit.

Sorry that I can't be more specific.

Regards

Try checking the water temp sensor - normally located near the thermostat housing. if this is incorrect it thinks the car is stone cold and will drink fuel. Dont know where it is on the Corsa.

I have just bought the Australian version (Holden Barina) for my 18 year old son.

Hope this helps

this is a bit of a late reply but the car still has the fault. we have already replaced the water temp sensor and the fuses are fine. i have recently changed the ecu and extra bits needed (chip immob ignition ring module) but the fault still stands. keep the ideas flowing though, any help is appreciated

right. after a good play around we have checked the obd2 diagnostic port pins and all are ok except for pin 7 which should have around 3.5 volts but is dead, as i understand this is the data link pin when reading with a diagnostic machine. any ideas what could have cut the power to this wire. i have checked all the fuses, and checked the wiring behind the stereo and instrument panel.
any ideas?
