Engine Oil

I have a 04 1.2 petrol corsa,Ive been looking round the forums for info on the recommended oil to use,i found the post below in a forum is the guy correct and what oil would members here recommend?

Quote:
Vauxhall's website information is clear - 5W-30 should be used for all Corsa '01-on, with 10W-40 only being suitable for earlier Corsas.

Not all 10W-40 are ACEA-A3/B3.

While anyone is entitled to state their personal recommendations, Vauxhall are clear that only 5W-30 should be used on Corsa '01-on.

I agree that if the 2yr/'x' miles regime is followed, then GM-LL-B-025 must be used for a 1.3CDTi.

Doesnt make a difference, used to run diesel oil in my corsa.

The oils are basically identical doesnt make a difference and wont cause damage. But the situation is different if used on turbocharged cars etc,

I have now discovered that it doesn't matter which oil you use on the 20000 mile / 1 year service as long as the ACEA number is the same.

1993-2001 10W-40 ACEA A3 / B3

2001 onwards 5W-30 ACEA A3 / B3

2004 onwards 5W-30 ACEA A3 / B3
