Nope it doesnt, most insurers would stand by the third party but they dont have to.

It's not here to argue over, and it's not going to secure any convictions, it's just a nifty little tool.

Sorry Lee ,
anyway since this a sticky about insurance I would like to answer any questions people have about it.

Anyway starting on a question that keeps getting asked every few months or so, being if I do "enter mod here" will I be covered.
Well any modification is a modification. Debadging is a modification, badging your car as a higher specification (example a merit to a gsi) is a modification. Adding different door speakers is a modification. As such these should all be declared to your insurance company, however I couldnt see an insurance company refusing a claim due to a minor modification such as this but they are within their rights to do so if they so wished.

Badging your car with a 1.6 instead of 1.4 is illegal and would probably invalidate your insurance, not sure if the same rule applies to GSi badges though.

Illegal is the wrong word, but if its not declared it can invalidate your insurance. Obviously if you were to sell the car and didnt make the new owner aware that it was wrongly badged, then it would be illegal.
