loud exhausts beware

Last night i was takeing the gf home from mine. I noiced a van behind me flashing its headlights which i ignored but it followed me in to the car park and turned out to be a riot van. Cops got out asked my name i asked why I had been stopped. He replied am concerned how loud your exhaust is as I can hear it in my van. Also the exhaust sticks out past the bumper i told him the noise had been checked and it was ok which i made up told him i would get it changed and off i went alo he caled me a boy racer

Any one know if there is a legal limit now

Yes there is, but I dont know what it is. TBH I'm more worried about the police seeing the flames out of mine rather than the sound.

there is a noise limit on the newer cars but if i remember rightly anything before a k reg dosent need a cat and there for will be louder than other
my old mini turbo had a full stainless steel powerflow turbo back with a twin upswept back box and that thing use to spit flames sound like a v8 on tick over got pulled many times in it but they said that cant do anything cause the age haha it was a 1970 austin mini with a 1380 turbo lump in there haha quicker than redtops!! anyways back on subject there is a noise limit and any good mot stations will be able to tell you the decibel limits

report him, he has no evidence that it was too loud, shouldn't call you a boy racer just for the sake of the exhaust.

there IS a limit, police CAN carry decibel meters, but as of yet almost none do. just be nice and polite to them, they may give you a warning, if your worried get your exhaust changed

But its not chavy no tints just lowerd 60 mm with big exhaust 15 inch alloys

shouldn't of pulled over. must of just been a probationer police as they cant use the blue lights till they have completed there course on driving. if they could hear it in there van then tbh was problery pretty loud., iv found if your decent to cops and not a cheeky fcuk them they dont instantly put you in the w@nker group and usually just give you a warning. if they were being cocks then could of called the traffics to come and go through your car with a fine toothcomb. and they will find something wrong with it..
