Oh my f*ck, i forgot how tedious and painful it is to hand polish your car its a fair size bigger than the corsa too. Just to top it off itsd now raining this country sucks.

The exhaust polished up nicely iv never seen it like this before

Anyway made some progress today, i "fixed" the rear wiper

And fitted some new shoes

I hate red calipers!

For those of you that know your jap motors they are 17" alloys off an R34 Skyline. Not my first choice of wheel but they have grown on me.

The sweetest bit is the cost, they have recently been refurbed and have Pirelli rubber and cost me a grand total of £80 so smiles all round, was about time i had some good luck!

Cheers

Yeh to be honest they suit the SX more than the skyline. Definitely needs to be lower! Coilovers should sort that The suspension hasnt settled in the pics so its a tad lower. Calipers will be done when i get me new brakes. One of them is grabbing badly, i can barely move it its next on my list.

More goodies:

Denso iridium spark plugs, a grade colder so i can run more boost lol, so there is no risk of DET, (detonation) and subframe locking collars, this should in theory elimnate all the axle tramp im getting. They compress the worn subframe bushes so there is no movement.

I also got the chance to fit some more of my sounds, which have been sat in my bedroom for months

Took the door card which was nice and simple

To reveal this lot, a bit of water at the bottom of the door which was a bit strange, ah well no damage done

Although the speaker wasnt looking too healthy!

It was also wet and muddy especially round the connections that cant be doing alot of good either

No wonder why they were blo*dy rubbish! the driver side was even worse, it was dry but the rubber ring had completely disintegrated there was nothing there at all!!

Come to think of it im suprised they even worked

Now to be replaced with these proper speakers, non of that paper sh*te

Whilst the door card was off i went to the effort of lining the door skin with sound deadening, a couple of sheets of damplifier, good stuff but is bloody sharp! much blood loss. Seems to of worked though

I managed to get one side done before the heavens opened why cant it stay dry for one poxy day! Anyway its good to have friends with lovely big triple garages so much nicier doing it in the dry

I took out the boost gauge pod from the door as it was in a bit of a state, the paint was flaking and it was covered in scratches, i smoothed the thing in body fill and sanded it down so its smooth, i say smooth but the smoothest you can get with 200 grit wet and dry, didnt have anything else

It would have to do i didnt have time for anything else, gave it a few coats of halfrauds finest then screwed it back onto the door card.

One door mounted boost gauge

I had a bit of difficulty fitting the speaker grilles but they looked so nice so i made them fit the existing one was removed and i chopped off the plastic lugs and redrilled the holes. Sorted they are now on there good a proper.

Then it was just simply the case of screwing the speakers in, cable tie the cross over to the door and hack the door card to fit the tweeter. Wire it all up and bobs your uncle

Another interesting little job i done yesterday was extending the range of my fob. It was pathetic, i couldnt open or close the car without literally touching the fob against the glass. I read up on it and found out that when the cars were imported from our japanese cousins they British dealers didnt wire up the alarm system to the aerial on the rear window muppets!

After a little look around i found the connector on the rear window, i thought it was just the heating element until i saw the connector

As i expected there was nothing attached to it

So out comes the interior!

And here is the infamous orange wire, doing nothing but staring into the rear quarter

I crimped on some wire which i had left over from my install and stuck a spade connector on the other end

Plugged it in and believe it or not i have some range! i can now lock or unlock the car from about 10 metres away. another little job sorted

The car got a bit of loving and maintenance this weekend, changed the oil filter and plugs

i always manage to spill oil everytime! although its gettin less lol, nissan state that the oil and filter should be changed every 3k!!! i think i should be getting good at these then i think its because they have tiny filters and small oil capacity, only 3.7 litres, tiny for a 2.0 engine! Anyway, cleaned up the magnetic sump plug

There was a little mushroom of metal filings on it, so fine it was like a paste better than circulating in the engine, and no big bits which is always a good sign

Fortunately this time everything went smooth no sticky oil filters, so whilst i was feeling nice and weather was still temporarily dry i fitted the new spark plugs

Simple bish bash bosh job, did this before lunch so thought id give the interior a bit of the valet, it needed it mats were grubby and so were the seats, and the dash had about an inch of dust on it (dirty b*stard )

First things first was to give the whole car a vaccum to remove most of the loose grud sitting around, then it was to restore the leather, none of the previous owners (and me) had really paid attention to the inside of the car for a long time, so it time to get scrubbing, i started with throughly cleaning the leather it with Auto Glym leath cleaner ensuring that i got in all the nooks and crannies.

Really effective stuff but it stinks! Before and after shots

No comments about the white stain either!!!!!

Lovely!

Next was to restore the leather, give it some life and suppleness, it was obvious that it hadnt been treated for a very long time, tbh dont think many people bother. So i coated the seats in Auto Glym leather cream to restore and nourish the leather, i left it a few minutes beforing buffing so that it could pentrate.

The results were excellent, much better than i was expecting, using good quality products does really help, here is a couple of shots:

50/50 shot of the rear seat after the passenger side was done

Passenger seat

Even the steering wheel got a bit of loving lol

After the leather was done i moved onto the dash and doorcards, giving them a coat or turtlewax interior spray to clean them up and give a nice shine.

Then the windows got a coat of crystal glass and was really buffed up, made a good job of removing all the fingerprints left by the girlfriend

Finally the mats were scrubbed up, i used bit of warm soapy water and my old wheel brush to clean them up, looked good as new

sorted! after a few hours of scrubbing and buffing i had one spanking clean interior, it looks great, like new except for the driver seat and steering wheel, now i dont like getting in it with me shoes on Next up is the exterior, when the weather is good and iv got the weekend free thats gonna get a full polish and wax, the paint is in bad condition, loads of scratches and swirl marks which i intend to get rid off and try to restore it.

Theres not alot in the way of modding until next month as im planning to spend some serious money on expensive bits n pieces
