Awesome stuff
. Whats the plan with engine mods? are you just going for the inlet or have you been working on internals too?

mods wise the spec will bevx performance inlet manifold Raceland 4-2-1 SS manifold Decat Janspeed SS silenced cat back system Pipercross Viper enclosed filter Blanked off EGR and SAI Roose Silicone hoses That should make it plenty quick enough for the minute. Its going to feel like a rocket going from my 1.1 pug to this ![]() |

Long time no speak guys! Hope you're all well. Really sorry I've not been keeping this update
Got plenty of news for you all though!I'll start from where I left off Now that I had the engine bay spotless we set about fitting my new, freshly painted power steering rack into the bay. The first problem I had was that I didn't realise the surround/gromit that goes where the rack connects the column was different...whoops! Luckily though I was able to modify/bodge the non PAS one on and it works fine! All fitted! ![]() Next up we did the last couple of bits to the engine before it was ready to drop in. This included refitted the injectors and fuel rail. I also needed to take the engine off the stand to do my clutch, I forgot that you need the exhaust manifold on to fit the crane mount so I took the opportunity to fit my Raceland manifold ![]() ![]() ![]() Between working on the engine etc I did a few little jobs. Firstly I cleaned the underside of the bonnet and secondly I repainted my 2.0 calipers in red to match my hoses! ![]() ![]() A brand new clutch was the fitted onto the engine and my starter motor after a good clean! This meant that I could finally get my gearbox on! ![]() The engine was now ready to go in the car! Heres a quick before and after pic comparing how I bought it nearly a year ago! ![]() ![]() When I was fitting my freshly painted gearbox mount that came with the engine I suddenly realised I had the wrong mount! It turns out it was a Nova one. I quickly stripped the old one off my 1.0 lump, painted it up and fitted it. You can see the difference in the mounts in the above pics now for the best bit! Time for the car to get its new heart ![]() ![]() ![]() With the engine in we built up my powdercoated GSI ARB set up ![]() With that fitted I could finally drop the car back down onto its wheels for the first time in months! ![]() Now that the engine was in place it was time to start the bit I'd been dredding the most...wiring! Because the 1.0 using completely different wiring I had to change the dashboard loom! I stripped the dash down completly first ![]() All the stuff I removed! ![]() Dashboard out! ![]() ![]() Thanks to a couple of mates we then managed to get the old dash loom out. We had the cut the Toad alarm wiring from it first, marking where all the wires go so that it could be rewired into the new loom ![]() One while we were disconnecting the immobiliser ![]() Loom out! ![]() Now that the old loom had been removed I started fitting the new one. I layed it into the car and fed it through the bulkhead ![]() Then the dashboard went back into place and I started putting the loom into place![]() Then I started refitting the dash parts. Got a few bits left to do to it but pretty happy that I got this far with it ![]() Then on Sunday me and my dad fitted the engine loom We fed it through the bulk head and laid it in place. We started connecting up the wires, while we were doing this I found that I was missing a few sensors which I've now bought. Next we started fitting and connecting the pipework and mounted the powersteering pump ready for my new belt to go on ![]() ![]() ![]() When first started fitting the loom I noticed I was missing a few sensors so I bought then during the week and got them all fitted. This included and new Coolant temperature sensor, lambda, MAP, and oxygen temperature sensor. Now that all that was sorted we fitted the loom for the injectors etc. Took us a while to work out how it was all going to go but we got there in the end. This then meant that I could finally fit my powerbox properly I cleaned the TB out and connected the throttle cable. I just need to extend the brake servo hose and make my vacuum hoses I also painted my pipercross viper filter in Star Silver to match my other engine bits. Bought a nice Roose 45 degree induction hose as well to fit it with. I wasnt going to buy one from Roose to start with because of their rip off postage costs but I wanted all the hoses to match so thought sod it! ![]() ![]() Exhaust was next! We fitted the second part of the raceland manifold and my new cat. ![]() Finally a few pics of my lastest purchases! Oil catch tank ![]() 10" slimline fan ![]() and all the fluids for the engine ![]() Should be running by the end of the week ![]() Last edited by shaunmods; 15-04-2010 at 06:14 PM.. |

Cheers lads. Vegas, sorry about that mate lol. Should be some progress at the weekend!
![]() Kitson, take my advice dude, don't do it If the wiring wasn't different on the 1.0/1.2 16v's it would be so much easier! Put it this way, I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than do this conversion again lol. It'll be worth it in the end though ![]() Last edited by shaunmods; 15-04-2010 at 07:08 PM.. |
