Zombie GSi :: "Category C" Write-Off

GSi 16v

Date of Death: 24-NOV-2009 :: Arose from the Grave: ???

So, just as the insurance company were about to arrange for it to be taken away, I had a change of heart and just couldn't let it go... knowing it would be sat on a dump somewhere with vulchers picking bits off of it

I had converted it back to standard... but now it has a write-off marker next to it and it's far from original, now that half the front end has been binned. So basically, I'm going to have fun with it now and not care about the whole "original" thing.

Damage includes: Front bumper, bonnet, N/S headlight, front crossmember, front crash plate, crash plate holders, horn and radiator. And that's only the visual stuff - I won't know about electrics, fan, engine, etc until they get looked at properly.

So, back to the modifying... a new start and a new thread

Exterior:
- Repair damage
- New GSi kit
- Full Re-Spray
- Badboy bonnet
- Angel Eye headlights
- Euro rear lights
- Lower -60mm on coilovers
- 15" Alloys - Cesaros
- Yellow rim coluor for alloys
- Toyo Proxes tyres all round
- Wind deflectors
- Amber Strobes
- New number plates
- Lotus-Style Badges (Green, yellow + silver)

Interior:
- Fix MFD
- Plasma Dials
- Passenger headrests (rear)
- *Possible* sound system
- CB Radio
- New door pins

Mechanical:
- C20XE transplant (MAYBE)
- Uprated front brakes (288mm Combi)
- Remus centre section

- Remus backbox (single square pipe)

- New oil sump
- Electric windows conversion
- Electric mirrors conversion
- Upgrade central locking to remote
- Stebel Nautilus air horn
- H4 HID Xenon conversion
- Single wiper conversion
- Rear Punto wiper
- Tracking

For now, I need to find a decent bodyshop to get the basics done, just to get it roadworthy. However, lots to keep me busy - roll on PVS 2010!

It ain't dead yet! >:]

(PS to anyone who wants to complain about the whole "original GSi" thing - it's a write-off, you're lucky it's not at the scrappy! On that same note... if you're just going to post hate, don't post it at all!)

take it to M.A.S car and commercial up on the eurolink, they do a good job up there ive heard

good luck with it mate, didnt think youd let it go that easily

only thing thats needed now is either a LET or XE and that will be kicking japs ass's lol i love the look on there face when the see a corsa going by lol there first look is at there speedo lol

Let me know if you find any where that does cheapish GSi body kits, I want to smooth mine, and go for a kind of euro thing, but I know i'd take my sweet ass time doing it lol and dont want to drive around bumperless

I don't see the point in spending so much money on an old car? Okay, it's a GSi and there aren't really all that many left on the roads now but for the money you're putting into the car you could have a newer model Corsa SRi or something similar.. Perhaps even upgrade a bit more than that.

Just something to think about.. Seen a few of your ideas now and the all seem a little far-fetched. Good on you for having 'dreams' so to speak but the photoshop above looks terrible..

Couldn't agree with you more, it might be a GSi that's becoming rare but fact is you're saving it from rusting in a yard somewhere so good on you!!

Plans sound great, liking the whole orange strobe thing! What's the law behind these? can you actually drive on the road with these?!

Yes, any car can have strobing ambers on, private security firms etc have them, they dont have a license. Its simply an extension of your hazard lights i believe. Although I'm fairly sure if you used them constantly then the plice could claim you're dazzling opther road users and that you're causing a traffic distraction.

But legally, they're fine.

See, I'm not sure... the GSi lump is still running like new and I've heard I can get around 150bhp with some simple tuning. I don't want to stick in a 2.0 and have **** loads of problems. We'll see

I'm getting mine directly from Vaux mate. More expensive, but then I spend most of my wage packet on my car anyway

You find me a car that's this rare, that turns heads, runs like a dream, is easy to customise and only costs £1000... and I'll do it.

This is why I've kept it... when do you see a GSi running around? The Caribic blue stands out amongst all the other cars. It's fantastic
