hi my corsa has got a 2 litre 8valve conversion but my mate said i should stick a 16v redtop head on to the bottom end for more power is he talking a load of rubbish or is this possible

8valve would be a SOHC and 16 valve a DOHC ?

SOHC to DOHC can be done, you can do it on the 1.6 engines with 16v head from a corsa or daewoo. Never heard of sticking one on a 2 litre though, 2.0 8v are pretty rapid anyway, bit old tech but it wouldnt make much difference.

theres no point at all its easier to stick a red top in.

i've heard of people putting honda k18 (1.8) heads on to k16 (1.6) bottom end to improve performance and a dyno run did show an increase in power. whether or not the same is true for a 8v to 16v conversion on a corsa, its not something i have looked into, but as jim said, it would probably be easier going for a 20XE or 20LET.
