Are you sure it is the correct belt for your model car?

It should be tight to get it on IIRC, it shouldn't just slot on.

I did mine the other day but mine doesnt have a tensioner or anything else, just a basic loop from alternator to crankshaft. One of the most frustrating jobs i have ever done on my car...:mad:

8v's are a piece of cake to do. Cut the old belt off, put the new one fully around the alternator pully, and as much as you can over the crankshaft pully, then flick the ignition on for a second. If you get it right the belt should be on and shouldn't need tightening up. 5 minute job.
