I can get all the gears but there loose and are not tight. Is there a way of setting it up properly? Any help appreciated.

You could do with updating the bushes in the linkage. Have you cut and welded your current linkage or are you using a short shift kit?

Are the rose joints in good condition? I would also go with Lee's Idea of of renewing the bushes. There are kits available on LMF iirc.

Also, if possible a Pic will help to make sure its not been botched.

Cheers for the replies. Its selecting 1 2 3 4 & 5 ok. Its just reverse. It goes into gear but then after a few goes the rod on the top of the selector slips off the ball joint (this is why it feels loose). The top bar is threaded and i assume it can be lengthened/shortened. Im thinkin its either too short or too long (hence slipping off). And its a quick shift linkage.

I bet it's fouling on steering column when you go into reverse

I bent the linkage where it fouled slightly problem gone

Is yours metal or plastic?

It was the curved bit that fowler it on the linkage itself. It's metal.
