I went to www.myshowplates.com and designed my plates with their online software. I had logos on either sides of my plates and was not warned that they were not road legal. I even selected the BS marking when I paid I emailed them to check my order and they only tell me after purchase that my plates are not road legal and that as they are customised I can't get a refund or cancel my order as its automated. So I paid £30.37 for plates that I can't use on my car. If I wanted show plates I would not have used my car reg would I. I've reported them to trading standards UK and Jersey lets see what happens. Oh they said in their T&C no refunds well their T&C did not show up when I paid for them and its a small link at the bottom of their website when you come to pay not on their homepage. I didn't know that you can't have non flag logo's on the plates and as they are making reg plates for road legal cars in the UK they should warn people when they are designing them.

You designed them yourself by adding the logos so its down to you to ensure they adhere to the current laws

Your mistake was placing the order and paying for it BEFORE you emailed to check. If you was unsure if a car was safe to drive, you wouldnt buy it and then check to see if it ran after buying it would you?

Yes you can, you just cannot use them on the road. You designed, ordered and purchased plates that cannot be used on the road and thats what you got

Nothing at all. Tell me one single law that has been broken by them or a single right which has not been upheld

So? They don't have to be on the homepage. The link for them was displayed at the appropriate time before any order was placed/paid for according to what you are saying - and that is exactly where they need to be.

It's not their responsibility to check every plate ordered. If you design it, it is up to YOU to check they are 'road legal'

You said it yourself - show plates. They deal in show plates and you bought show plates. What did you expect - Egg & Chips?

At the end of the day, you made a mistake and cannot accept the responsibility for it. Get over it and move on.
Also, next time, make sure you know what you are talking about before you:
A) Make an order for anything
B) Try to blame somebody else for your **** up

Actually you will find that I do have a case maybe you should know the law before you give out incorrect advice. Under the trading standards in Jersey it says " must be fit for the purpose for which the seller knows you are buying them " and the seller knew that I designed them for Road legal not as show plates. So I'm afraid you are wrong and I have 14 days to cancel my order if I'm not satisfied or if the plates are of bad quality. I also emailed them to cancel my order and they refused I was in the specified time of 14 days.

You must be unaware that I design, build, maintain and run several large corporation websites including ecommerce sites similar to My Showplates?

I have studied law in that department and problem is, you never notified the buyer that you wanted them road legal.

By designing your own custom non road legal plate, the seller would assume that you wanted a custom non road legal plate, which is what you got, so they are in breach of no laws at all.

Maybe you should do your OWN research before passing judgement on other peoples knowledge and skills.
Maybe you should also take responsibilities for your actions?

Font used for the registration entry should be limited to: Standard/3D and should be black

A slogan is not allowed on legally designed plates - A background image including honeycomb is also not premitted

Why would putting the BS mark on a plate mean that you want it to comply with BS?
I cant host a data centre in a basement and put on my website that I comply with all the British Standards surrounding it and expect people to know that I just 'want' it to comply. alm:

I cant see how you can expect to call something what it isnt (By putting BS marks on your non compliant plates) and expect the seller to be able to change the British Standards to accommodate you :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

And a software analyst should have been able to 'analyse' a simple bit of online software to notice the freaking huge button on it pointing to the information I have already provided you with. cguru:

'You lose' may be immature, but so is posting up bad reviews on a company simply because you screwed up.

Whether it's immature or now, the fact remains that you still lost the debate when explaining that you didn't know what you were doing and were too lazy to read the information provided to you.

All the points you have given about how it was not your own mistake have been proven wrong by other points you have made yourself.

You screwed up, move on, lesson learnt, buy some new plates and this time you should leave the little fancy pictures off them - you gain nothing from them anyway.

But you still cannot answer the question - What regulations have they not adhered to that Trading Standards would be concerned about?

I did not F*** up and if they are a plate maker then they should tell their customers what's legal and isn't when your making the plates. The business that specialises in number plates has the duty to tell someone who doesn't know what's legal or isn't before they purchase the damn plate so don't diss me and judge me. Have I dissed you or made any insulting comment against you? Stop being a bloody child and grow up.

actually £30 is a lot to me might not be to you and for number plates it is. Show plates shouldn't cost that much if I wanted them I paid for road legal plates and they knew this by emailing me.
