Hi guys -

While on the road earlier today, the battery and handbrake lights on my Corsa's dashboard came on and stayed on.

I parked and switched the car off, then started up again. The lights remained on.

Waited for about half an hour, started the car up, and the lights went off as normal.

Any idea of what could be brewing? Apart from the lights going on, I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary; even so, I'm too scared to drive in case I cause damage.

Personally I would get the Battery and Alternator tested. Local garages normally do them, and Halfords retailers do them for free. Also, I think the Handbrake light doubles up as a 'low brake fluid' indicator. So it might be worth checking your brake fluid is topped up. But that's just a precaution and has nothing to do with the battery light.

If they pass with flying colours, then I would look into a bad Earth connection. Possibly a bad Earth on the alternator.

Someone on here with a lot more experience might have a few other ideas though.
