Lights, radio, windows etc all work fine. When I try to start, the headlights dim but all I got was very rapid clicking. I assumed it was the battery, so changed it for a new one. Still the same problem.

This may or may not be relevant - hadn't used the car for a few days before Thursday night. Tried to start it just after the mother of all hailstorms, with results as above. When I opened the bonnet, the top of the battery was covered in slush and there was loads of corrosion around the terminals. That was the old battery, and I cleaned the terminals before attaching the new one.

I've also tried bumping the car (in gear), still no joy.

What's it likely to be....??! Any clues appreciated

It was too wet today to do any work with the bonnet up - but when I locked the car it unlocked itself straight afterwards. I tried again, and it locked just the two driver's side doors! Had to lock the others manually. Is this pointing to an earth fault? Or something else?
