Hi I am a new driver and have just bought a Vauxhall Corsa 2001 1.2 comfort.
I have driven it for 3 days and on friday evening it would not start. the engine was turning over but not firing up. the gauges on the dash were all at 0 including the fuel but the tank is full. i tapped the dash and these all moved. after several attempts it started.
yesterday morning it started fine but in the afternoon same problem - many attempts before it fired up.

I have done a diagnostic the code is 1616 which im not sure if i can fix myself?

Any ideas what is wrong and how much this will cost?

Also when it is started could it cut out while i am driving?

Any help would be really great.

got a comfort 1.0 2002 model.

I think its got to do with a wiring problem behind the dash.

what works for me is to bang the dash with my fist a few times so the connection goes back in. this will work

when you go over bumps to fast it might get lose again.

a permanent fix is to put a sponge behind the wiring.

as long as you don't stall or cut it off it will stay on.

the first time it happened to me was at a traffic light and I switched the engine off. big mistake it wouldn't start again. it was embarassing. got it started eventually though

no permanent fix the mechanics will do the same and put like a sponge behind.

Pins in back of clocks suffer from bad contact.

Bend pins for better contact
