Hi, my corsa c is sounding pretty rough at low speed. When I start the ignition and when sat at lights etc it revs to about 1000. Also when going up hill the power drops and have to drop through the gears to get to the top. Read a couple of things and all seem to point to the egr valve and the build up of carbon and soot etc. Has anyone had any experience with this job and any pointers etc.

Hi Sam it could very well be the EGR valve, you might be able to get some codes out of it, but when the egr valve sticks open its like an air leak on the manifold, and the idle gets really rough and it will have flat spots when accelerating and all sorts of running problems, its on the inlet manifold or around that area, cylindrical device with multi plug on, prob a small pipe from the exhaust goes on it, you take it off spray the plunger with carb cleaner or brake cleaner etc, move it in and out and put it back on and try it...from Fred in Essex.

Cheers Fred. I've got a Haynes manuel so know where it's located. Going to try and source an EGR gasket and carb cleaner on a Sunday might not have any luck and give it a go. Will update my progress

Also does it surge forward when you pull off sometimes
