Water Temp sensor: Normally have 2 wires from ecu, voltage signal wire from ecu and earth, join to test. 5 or 12 volts and an earth, the sensor is negative coefficient, so when it hot its low resistance and when its cold its high, make sure its withing manufactures specs, in theory if you pull the plug off it should run rich, and when you bridge the wires it should go lean...check for voltage at one wire, and an earth on the other. there is a resistor built into the ECU so you can safely ground the sensor wire out. test sender with ohm meter....the Ambient air temperature sensor works in same way only it detects air temp instead of water.
