OK this is going to be of very limited interest - but just in case it helps anyone....
I have an old Acer netbook with a SSD which has always been on the slow side. It runs XP (32bit) and I found a little utility called Flashfire which had mixed reviews. Some people said it made things better, some said it killed their netbook. But since it's only used for Opcom and I'm getting a new laptop soon anyway I thought I'd try it
The result was gobsmacking - the thing flies along now, and I mean it's totally transformed.
This is where I found it http://domsyard.com/acer-aspire-one/how-speed-windows-xp-acer-aspire-one-ssd
