How can I tell my battery is flat nd not my starter broke

Try charging the battery ie: jump leads and try to start it

Turn on headlights then get a mate to try cranking it. If the lights are bright and stay bright the starter isn't pulling power. If the lights go dim the starter is pulling power but the battery voltage is failing

When ignitions on and the ignition lights r bright but when I put head lights on the ignition lights dim abit until power comes back

Stick a voltmeter across the battery terminals. A healthy battery will show 12.5 volts or above. With the car running, expect to see 14+
