Hello all I have a Corsa C. Right I don't know if I'm reading too much into this but it's my first car so I'm curious. My gearbox seems fine, it never drops out of gear, sometimes a little struggle to get into first whilst not stationary that's it. However it just seems very loose as in when it is in gear it wobbles around quite alot like I said it never comes out of gear just wobbles about and I can move it in a circular motion when in gear just doesn't seem solid. Is this just a corsa thing as my mates is similar or is there something I can do to strengthen it?

Hi m8, corsa's have a known problem with the gear linkage, they use nylon bushes that wear out, new linkage not that expensive .

If you are able to select gears then it's not critical at the moment - just bear in mind it won't get any better.

If the mileage is over 50k check if it's ever had the gearbox oil replaced.

Mine isnt as loose as yours but can be a bit stiff also with getting into first. Mines done 100k miles just and far as I can tell never had any gear box work done. Since mines not made driving an issue or slipped out of gear or anything "faulty" i've lived with it and its been fine. Probs would get it sorted if it caused concern (like it appears to be for you).
