Hi I just had my car mot'd an they said they tightened the handbrake cable but now it's too tight and I get a burning smell come from the rear drums after driving (only noticed it tonight) is it a quick process loosening it? Also what could be the defect of driving with it on slightly too tight? Because I've been driving it for 3 days like that

To loosen just take one wheel nut off and shine a torch in until you see a nut and just slacken it with a screwdriver or remove the hub, with it too tight you will burn through shoes at a rapid rate

Any rear wheel nut? And when you say shoes you mean??

Well any on the wheel thats tight , brake shoes :thumbup:

I'd jack it up and check if either side is binding, then adjust properly at the handbrake adjuster. If that doesn't work the shoe may need adjusting - but I'd bet they've just tightened the cable itself.

But check the wheel bearings as well - make sure it is them that's overheating.
