There must be a thread or two on here, but I can't find a search function, so I'll ask nicely..

The rotary dial for the heat control has been getting almost impossible to turn. so before I snap it off I wanted to dismantle and "lube it" So I've got as far as taking the switch cover off and I've liberally sprayed silicone grease (WD40 type) behind it.
Now the heater dial won't turn at all, so I need to either dismantle, or ask you guys what I SHOULD be spraying behind it, before it snaps.

I really thought silicone would sort this, so I've learnt something.

How does the rear of the switch come out, is it screwed beneath the vents and they have to be popped out first?
