I have just bought an 04 Corsa C and there is an intermittent ticking noise coming from the engine. This noise does not increase with speed... in fact it sometimes disappears when the car speeds up. I don't think the noise is related to engine speed at all. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? I would suspect timing chain if the noise was constant but it isn't. Thanks.

Hydraulic valve lifters, when the car speeds up disappears cause oil is flowing fast through it, try to change your oil.
