Every time, and I mean every time I top up my coolant and screw back on the tanks cap and starting the engine the radiator fan starts up (bearing in mind the engine is cold) and it doesn't show any temperature reading even when hot.

It's weird because it comes and goes for a couple of weeks after topping it up, but eventually the radiator fan stops coming on and the temperature gauge shows the temperature.

My question is why does it do this after topping up the coolant? Is it normal? Or is it something I'm doing?

Cheers
