look in your haynes manual if you aint got one invest, it has a MOT check list and might be helpful for checking what there looking for before hand that way if you notice something you wont waste your money

Put it through its MOT and pay for anything that needs done.

Yeah mine failed first time, but once the garage had fixed all the problems it was re-tested for free and passed
