Hey guys

I got quoted £150-£200 for replacing my engine gaskets, including the head gasket. What do you think of this price?

Also, £60-£75 for a cambelt and auxillary belt change.

Thoughts?

As far as I'm aware the 1.2 8v engines are a lot easier to work on than the 16v so I would say that price is a tad steep tbh.

I got quoted £95 for a cambelt change alone at another Vauxhall specialist.

The guy has told me to take my car down to check out what engine it is before I book it in. As he needs to order all the belts in.

Ah right. S'pose they are trying to gain a hell of a lot of profit for labour charges etc.
Yep that's where they earn it.
Get a Haynes manual from your local library and read through the procedure on how to do it. You may find it cheaper and easier to do it yourself.

I haven't got the time. And I'm crap with mechanics lol. My dad was going to do it for me, but he hasn't got the time as he's always working & he does a lot for my car anyway!

I have a Haynes manual too :)

lol, why not get a small garage to do it? rather than a vauxhall garage?
It's a Vauxhall specialist place, not an actual dealer. I thought they'd be reliable, so I called them for a quote.

Might phone round some small garages. I thought small garages might not take the job on, as I was under the impression it was such a big job.

I'm probably just being a thick woman lol

My car's technically my 1st one, as my last one got written off by a twat in a 4x4 3 weeks after I had it.
