Hi guys,

I have a 1.2 Petrol Corsa D Sxi 57 plate. The other day my red oil pressure light came on when sat at the lights, but went as soon as I drove and has been doing this for a day or so. If I'm sat stationary and accelerate in neutral it also turns the light off. I've added another litre of oil in case, even thought I know it can't be oil level. What would cause this to happen?

Hi, fellow Bradfordian!

Adding more oil will not help your problem unless the oil level was low on the dip stick - overfilling can, amongst other things, damage the catalytic converter (cat).

The problem COULD be down to a faulty oil pressure sender, but it is safer not to take any risks, just in case the actual pressure is too low.
I would suggest that you temporarily connect up an oil pressure gauge in place of the sender and check the actual oil pressure.
By NOT doing this, you risk expensive damage to your engine, and no true Yorkshireman wants that, do they!
I recommend that you don't drive the car until you have carried out this check.
