(Please move if its in the wrong place)

So I'm currently in the middle of a conversation with the misses about my next car.

So far I'm between two cars:

1) 2005 Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 CDTi 139k just got MOT.

2) 1997 Volvo V70 2.5 T SE 153K

My arguments so far are that the Volvo has only averaged 10k per year, the vectra 17k. Volvo has a bigger boot and more power to keep me happy :) but the vectra is newer. Insurance on the Volvo is £40 per month less, but the running cost and tax is more.

I can't seem to find any common problems with the Volvo where as I have read quite a few problems about the dual mass fly (as its the same engine as the Astra?) as well as fuel pump and injectors?

Any more common issues on either cars would be hugely appreciated.

This will probably influence my next car!

Cheers guys :)

Nah not keen, only like the newer ones that are out of my price range.

Or an old E30, but that's well out!

My mums old one had from a year old until just over a year ago, 248k on the clock and never missed a beat the only thing ever to go wrong on it was the water pump once! massive boot could fit a couple of dead people in it

It's the 150, the guys sounds like a ****. I asked about what work had been done (hoping flywheel, clutch and swirl flaps) and he said 'Ive got someone veiwing the at today, I'll phone you this afternoon' and hung up. That was yesterday, so I'm not holding my breath.

It wouldn't be worth having the vectra even if the works been done. My dads got that engine in his Saab, not only did he pay out to have the egr and actuator replaced when he first got it, the inlet went at 130 on the autobahn and engine temp went through the roof :palm: and then he's had to replace the egr last month again and there are constant electrical problems. Shame really as when it works its a really decent engine
