I used to also undo the 22mm centre bolt, and hit it from behind to remove. This resulted in a collapsed steering wheel column and hit it too hard.

So I bought one of these

about £15
Or cheaper on eBay etc..

Took airbag off (two torx screws) make sure you disconnect your battery for a while first,

The undid the 22mm bolt.

Put the puller on.black piece goes on the centra (that you removed bolt from) two Silver prongs hook onto the wheel.
Then you tighten the black part of puller with a socket and here's a video

I'm going to buy this straight away - some guys came down to take bits off my spare car and needed to take the steering wheel off, they must have spent a whole hour bashing at it and eventually after a painful experience it came off.

It is. Actually thought was cheaper in halfords. Made by Laser, maybe trade discount took alot off.
