Hey,

Ive just had an MOT test done and it failed on three things plus a few advisories. So, they mechanic has said it will be £310 to fix -

1. Both windscreen wipers as the blades were insecure.
2. The exhaust has a major leak so that needs to be fixed.
3. One brake cable is broken.
4. I need a new water pump.
5. Theres a coolant leak and an oil leak.

Its £310 for parts plus fitting.

I just want to know if it sounds fair.

Cheers,
Matt

Blades £6
Brake cable? You mean front flexi hose? £10 if so
Exhaust, depends how bad - maybe just patched up and welded £20 ish depends if xan be repaired.
Water pump - depends on engine, usually cheap but labour is quite abit due to location on some engine.
Coolant leak-oil leak. Depends whats leaking tbf

I'd expect that price to be abit cheaper and include fitting tbh

Where can you get blades for £6? Is that just for one or a pair?

As i said in the original post, the £310 includes the fitting of all parts.

And the brake cable is actually the handbrake cable. Everytime the car goes to the garage it seems to need a new one, so annoying!

You can buy blades for £2.99 at Wilkos - but they'll only last a month before they go hard. Cheap doesn't mean good value.

As Rob says - with fitting it sounds about right. It's how the guy earns a living after all.
