hi everyone
this is my first post (so be gentle with me)
i have a problem..... the ignition key in my corsa snapped inside the barrel
so i had to drill it out, as i could'nt get to position one to remove it.
i bought a replacement barrel and fitted it, using the orignal chip from the old key. but now the starter motor turns but the car wont start.
question will the chip and transponder still work. (im thinking it should) as they are both the same ones for the car..... but am i missing anything here.....help please

Should work. If its problem with immobiliser EML usually flashes. Have you charged your battery?

battery sounded like it had power,but i will put it on a full charge,
and see what happens

If all the original components are there, then it should work. No chance you damaged anything whilst removal or fitting ?

dont think so,its going through all the motions. lights on the dash,starter running etc
just wont start,everything else is as it should be
for some reason i think its to do with the transponder,dont know why ,just a feeling

When you put the key to position 2, does the engine light come on?

Car takes loads of battery to start.. Lights is minor

in position 1 lights come on in dashboard
in position 2 no lights
in position 3 starter motor turns

must admit i was wondering why nothing was showing at position 2

You should have lights on Position 2.

My guess is wiring. Did you have to cut or rejoin any wiring whan you changed the barrel?

Put it on position 1 with the dash lights on and try a bump-start, if it starts, switch it to position 2, if it then stops, you have some wiring incorrect somewhere.
