Hi there,

Just a quick question about coolant, as I'm a bit confused. I have a VAUXHALL CORSA CLUB 16V 1199cc PETROL, 5 Door HATCHBACK (Y reg), and I'm not sure if I need IAT based coolant or OAT based?

Go with IAT since it works with most engines. The differences are based on the types of metals.

I think you will find that OAT is for the newer engines, and IAT is for older engines.

PS. OAT antifreeze is unsuitable for cooling systems that contain copper/brass/lead solder (and some forms of rubber) - mostly older engines.

Absolutely - your vehicle would have been filled with the OAT type when it was new.
The thing to remember is,- the two types must not be mixed together.

I also notice that you've asked this question on another forum recently,- the reply from "taurus" can be 100% trusted,- as he is very knowledgeable regarding vauxhall vehicles.

No need to apologise, we all learn through asking questions.
I've read the info on these, and can't see any real difference in them.
The other thing to look out for, is, some come ready to use (ie; diluted 50/50 with water).
I personally would use GM/Vauxhall OAT antifreeze, it doesn't cost much more than other brands.

As above, I wouldn't even think of buying other than genuine GM stuff.

I use halfords ready mixed OAT coolant.
