Hi all, just found this forum its great!!
Fitted some 6 X 9 a cuple of months ago but noticed that the drivers side door speaker wasn't workin, didnt have the time before but just decided to have a look at it now, All i can say is the guy who had the car b4 me must have done some crazzyy stuff as the wiring is in a bit of a mess lol

checked the wiring coming from the speaker itself and thats blue and another one coming from the smaller speaker next 2 door handle is green, these 2 come together in a larger cable that is black and has a red and black wire inside, this comes thru the door hinge underneath the steering wheel, then all of a sudden it was cut and nothing connected 2 it, i managed after about an hour of searching the other end of it coming out from just under the drivers seat to the left, where the main console is. I connected these 2 2gether and tought this would sort it but being stupid didnt check lol, fitted everything back which was a lot lol and chekd it and it dint wrk.

Was just wondering if anyone had any ideas, as to where this wire then goes as i start to get confused, when i check the pin in the bk of the system tht it shud go 2 this leads to sum nxt level colours which go towards the passenger sides door, and another black wire is entangled in there which i assume is the passenger side door speaker. aany help is appreciated, sorry 4 long post

Cant picture what wires you have found but there are four different pairs of wires in the plug that goes to your head unit, one pair for each speaker, front left, front right, rear left, rear right, if the wiring is all messed up from the last person i would suggest running new wires from the head unit to your speaker (or just the one that isn't working) All you need is a length of speaker cable, find the connections for that speaker at the plug, then cut the wires and join them to you speaker cable, should do the trick.

Im not sure what the colours are for the front speakers but the rear speakers are:

Brown/brown green - rear left
Black/ black white - rear right

IIRC

Thanks 4 the reply, i've just had another look and i dont know what i've connected, its not the speaker, ive had a compare with the one that is working (passengers side) and that has the same black wire, i think tht must be something 2 do with security thats been disconnected as it runs to the left hand side inside the door towards the locking mechanism.
the wires from the actual speaker are blue and brown/blue, but i cant trace them after they go through the door hinge, do they run under the carpet? as there are 3 going that way, yellow, white and another colour ive forgot, i dont think ill b able to run my own wires as i cant pass them through the door hinge, does anyone know which way the wires should go after the hinge as there are so many and i cant find the ones im lookin for ( coming from the speaker)

all the wires that go into the door are connected into the plug that is on the door, it's the rubber tube type thing that you can see just above the hinge. The cables from the car are joined to one side of the plug the cables from the door to the other, they are joined by the plug. The best thing to do is to test the cables to see if they are not broken. To do this you will need to access both ends of each cable, to test them get a multi meter and set it to the ohms range so it is reading resistance, if you touch the one probe off one end of the cable and the other probe on the other then you should get a reading, if you dont get a reading then there is a break in the cable. To be able to test the cables you will have to strip a small piece of the insulation off the cable this is fine as long as you make sure you tape it up afterwards. Alternatively if you dont have a multi meter, use a headlight bulb (with a wire to each connection) and a 9v battery, disconnect your stereo, keep the ignition off, connect one terminal of the battery to one wire, run a wire off the other battery terminal to one end of the cable and touch the other wire off the bulb to the other end of the cable (the bulb may not be very bright as it is only 9 volts but if it lights up at all then the cable is in tact.

P.S Mind you text talk, it's against the forum rules and you will get an infraction off the mods

thanks, ill get myself a multimeter, been meaning to get one anyway, i've been at it all this time, come in because its gone dark haha the car interior looks a mess, i've dismantled everything. I think i might have found the right wires, connected them up and nothing happens, i think the speakers themselves may be nackered. BTW neither of them are working now. Just out of curiosity, when i took the speakers off to have a look at the connection behind, i put it back and it kept getting attracted to the frame of the door because of the magnet, will this affect the speaker and mean it wont work anymore??
I was fiddling with the wires connecting to the head unit, i know the rear speakers work 100%, but i came accross a yellow and yellow/brown wire that wernt going to anything, these are the same colours as i found going under the carpet from the speaker trying to fix, connected them up and nothing happened, swapped it back to what it was originally and the door speaker that was working messed up, although ii hadn't tried it to see if it worked after the magnetic thing happened. Hope you can understand what im tryna say haha.
PS sorry for the text talk, bad habit,
