I read this on VVOC and it's worth mentioning - they don't allow none members to view the site (why?) so I'll briefly repeat the story.
(Apologies if this ought to be in car chat - but it's not directly about a car itself)
A bloke was using the Halfords 5 piece lifting kit http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...27_langId_-1?cm_sp=Intelligent_Offer-_-Product_List_Zone_1-_-Blank&iozone=PLPz1 and had his car up on ramps with the wheel chocks locking the wheels.
He says himself he hadn't got the car properly on the ramps, and clearly he hadn't applied the handbrake or left it in gear (which no-one on here would fail to do of course
) - so he was relying solely on the wheel chocks to keep the car in place. And they collapsed.
Fortunately he was able to roll out of the way - but this could have been a serious accident. Halfords are looking into the situation, and to be fair it's not for me say whether the wheel chocks were faulty or whether he'd used them wrong. Given that the car wasn't on the ramps right, wasn't in gear, the handbrake wasn't on, there's good reason not to jump to conclusions.
I'd never trust these folding chocks anyway. I always use a brick or a block of wood. If you do have a pair check them, just in case.
