pushing at least £200 i would say, and its fairly simple i believe if you know what your doing, if you have no idea i advise you stay away (my dad did mine)

If the head needs skimming then only a specialist can do that. Always a good idea to replace timing belt and mentioned at these time. I'd fit new head bolts as well personally if its a 16v setting up the timing belt can be tricky. Not a job for the amature

 

yeah sorry forgot to mention all that tis a 1.2 16v, its one im looking at buying and not too sure, wanna see how much i can haggle went to look at it today and when i opened the bonnet there was bits of oil here and there, and very low oil in the actual car when i used the good ol' dipstick

if it was an 8v id do it but have no idea about 16v

heh sorry no where near brighton plus not sure if it'll survive getting there at the moment! down in kent hmm well i'll phone around some local garages and see whats what then, if im looking at around 200 it may be worth it cant let a corsa down really can we!

 

If it was being sold with a blown head gasket I wouldnt buy it unless you plan to do the repair work yourself, otherwise you are probably looking at a money pit.

 

its not blown at the moment, which means repair is gonna be reasonable i reckon, so possibly be able to get away with it, i know if its blown then it becomes very expensive, one garage quoted 750 for it thinking it was blown :S do not have that kinda money! ^_^

 

Its the labour to replace it that will cost the money, plus new belts, waterpump, etc it adds up. How much is this corsa? I'm sure you could get a good corsa for similar money.

 

it may not have blown, some corsa's are miss diagnosed with faulty head gaskets, depending on the symptoms, are you getting 'mayo' on the dip stick or in the oil cap or in the water bottle?

 

If it's costing you over 100 for average corsa with this problem and you can't do yourself I'd go elsewhere

 

Yep, I agree. Any more over that price and it's not worth the hassle.

 

thanks for all your help everyone i decided to leave it in the end, went to see a silver sxi today and well, everything was perfect so now i am the proud owner bought for 850!^_^
